Local searches have always been on a map. Augmented reality is merging the real world with virtual images, most likely through the camera lens of your cell phone. You can look through the camera of your cell phone and see points of intrest such as coffee shops, resturaunts, theatres, and pretty much whatever you can think of. It is difficult to explain augmented reality without actually showing you, so look at this video clip:

My favorite augmented reality app for Android is Layar. Some of my iFriends like wikitude for the iPhone. I believe that in a few years, it will be normal to see hundreds of people spinning around in circles with their phones in Times Square.

Yeah, I know that I was supposed to come back on the first but I couldn’t wait to use my WP to go app on my droid. Speaking of the droid, it would be good to tell anyone who is the market for a new case to stay away from magnetic cases for the phone. Two of the most popular accessories, the car dock and the media dock, use magnets. The droid reacts with the magnets in these docks by going into car mode or the media dock mode. Putting your droid in a case with magnets triggers these different modes to launch. I bought a magnetic case from the Verizon Wireless store, that was made specially for the droid. I am returning it tomorrow and I am going to use a velcro case I ordered online. To all droid users – Beware of magnets!

He was $10. I was looking online for a usb hub but when I saw this I had to have it. The tail is the wire that plugs in the computer and the legs are the ports. One annoying thing is that the eyes glow green which may not bother some people but looking at it from a certain angle , they are really bright. Overall, I think it was a good buy.

Yesterday, my windows 7 upgrade arrived in the mail. I chose the option to upgrade rather than do a clean install, It took about 3 hours on my laptop but that isn’t a lot compared to the reports of 20+ hours on older machines. It was fairly simple, just pop the dvd in , choose options, and let it do its thing. A lot of the new features are in the shiny new taskbar with managing multiple windows. It has some new things that I didn’t know about like a nice zoom tool and a much needed re-vamp of paint (finally). There is no sidebar, instead gadgets just float on the desktop, but they can snap to the side. The only compatibility problem I encountered was with the drivers for the quicklaunch buttons on my HP Pavilion. Today is only my second day using it so I will write more about it when I fiddle with the new features.

<img class="size-full wp-image-311" title="paint" src="http://blog.digimuta.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/paint.PNG" alt="OMG!

The Blackberry Storm 2 was announced for verizon wireless. There have been a lot of complaints about the first version, including a lot of bugs and touch or “click” screen issues. The new smartphone ditched the physical click screen for an electronic sure touch system. No price has been announced yet. I am planning on getting a new phone some time next year. The palm pre may not be on Verizon’s network but phones that will run Google’s android platform have been announced so I will probably choose that and help google take over the world.

Anyone who has multiple computers knows how difficult it is to sync files and documents. You may or may not have heard of drop box, an online service that lets you keep files on multiple mac, windows, and linux pc’s updated and in sync. Basically, if you put a file in a drop box on one computer, it can be accessed through all of your computers on that account. If you happen not to be on a computer with drop box installed, you can access your files online. Dropbox is 100% safe even though it has a yellow rating with McAfee. The reason for this is because some people were abusing the system by spreading malware through the public file sharing system. The people at drop box left a comment too:

Dropbox is a software product that’s revolutionizing the way people think about and access their files. In particular, we make it easy to securely share files with other people, sync them across multiple computers, access them from anywhere, and keep them safely backed up online.

Our product tour: http://www.getdropbox.com/tour

Our feature list: http://www.getdropbox.com/features

One of the features of the Dropbox service is the ability for users to put files in their Dropbox and share public links to those files with anyone they like. Unfortunately, some very small number of users decide to put viruses or other malware inside their Dropbox folders, and then post links to these bad files online in the hope that unsuspecting people will download them.

The Dropbox desktop software is completely free of viruses, malware and spyware, as is the main website that our users access. However, please be cautious of any links to files being hosted by Dropbox users that you don’t recognize.

Please report any malicious public file links to us directly by emailing support@getdropbox.com, so that we can ban the abusing user’s account if necessary.

We take your security and privacy very seriously. Thanks for using Dropbox!

If you want to get dropbox, you can go through my referal link and get an extra 250mb of storage on top of the 2gb already included. GET DROPBOX

World of Warcraft’s third expansion was recently announced and is said to be released “sometime in 2010″. Although no official release date has been announced, there is a possibility of it being 11/1/10. The reason for this is that according to Game Stop’s “big book of release dates” (not really what it is called), under the pc games release dates, Cataclysm had a release date. Of course, this is not official and this may be an estimate but hey, it is exiting to “know” something, especially for WoW players.
